This latest recent report includes return and e-file volume from the April 18 deadline and will be the last 2023 Filing Season Statistics report we share until the IRS releases a report in late October. The October report will include volume from not only the October 15, 2023 extension deadline, but also transactions from the designated disaster areas within 8 states to date that received various automatic extension dates prior to the April 18 filing deadline. The 8 states include AL, AR, CA, GA, IN, MS, NY and TN (the latest extension date is October 16 for CA).
The IRS has released the 2023 Filing Season Statistics report for week ending April 21, 2023. Weekly filing season statistics show cumulative and comparative totals from the 2023 (TY2022) and 2022 (TY2021) tax return filing seasons.
