The IRS has issued a Quick Alert announcing that the Modernized e-File (MeF) Production System, currently processing business returns only, will be unavailable tomorrow, Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 7:00 AM through 5:00 PM Eastern Time. 

• Any business returns submitted to our Central Site during this timeframe will be sent to the IRS once the Scheduled Maintenance is complete.

MeF Operational Status Available at IRS.gov: 

• Modernized e-File (MeF) provides electronic filing and payment options for filers of Corporation, Employment Tax, Estates and Trusts, Excise Tax, Exempt Organization, Individual, and Partnership Tax Returns. You can check the system status 24/7 on the IRS MeF Operational Status page.
