The IRS has released the 2022 Filing Season Statistics report for week ending April 29, 2022.
Note: For a more complete YOY E-File transaction comparison, we will continue to share this IRS weekly report up until the inclusion of last season’s May 17 filing deadline transaction volume. Following the inclusion of the April 18, 2022 filing deadline transaction volume spike in the last report, with this week’s report, we will now begin to see a downward trend but overall, growth continues to remain positive.

IRS Statement:
As the filing season wraps up, the IRS has delivered more than 92.5 million refunds worth $279 billion as of April 29. The average refund is $3019. (Note: The filing deadline in 2022 is April 18, 2022; on March 29, 2021, the IRS announced that the filing deadline was extended to May 17,2021. The 2021 Filing Season began February 12, 2021; the 2022 Filing Season began January 24, 2022.)
