The IRS has released the 2022 Filing Season Statistics report for week ending May 6, 2022.
Note: For the 2nd consecutive week, and as we move closer to last season’s May 17 filing deadline, the E-Filing Receipts % Change segments continue to decrease but are still maintaining a positive double-digit Year-Over-Year (YOY) growth %. We will continue to share this IRS weekly report up until the inclusion of last season’s May 17 filing deadline transaction volume.

Cumulative Statistics Comparing May 7, 2021 and May 6, 2022
As the filing season wraps up, the IRS has delivered more than 94 million refunds worth more than $285 billion as of May 6. The average refund is $3,025. (Note: The filing deadline in 2022 is April 18, 2022; on March 29, 2021, the IRS announced that the filing deadline was extended to May 17,2021. The 2021 Filing Season began February 12, 2021; the 2022 Filing Season began January 24, 2022.)
