The IRS recently identified an issue with TY2022 1040 tax returns containing Schedule 8812 – Credits for Qualifying Children and Other Dependents that impacts all tax software companies. The IRS has resolved the issue that was resulting in the following reject error description (see image below).
If you currently have returns in your system with this error and are using the desktop/hosted software program, please follow these simple steps:
Downloadand Apply Software Update .010
Restart the software program (automatic prompt)
Open the return with this reject error (.010 will automatically attach Schedule 8812)
Re-transmit the return
Important Note: The Partner Support Team is receiving calls regarding issues that are easily resolved by being at the latest software version. We are also seeing instances where partners have downloaded the software updates but not applied them. You must complete both steps (access short How To video below). To save time, be sure to first verify you are at the latest software version before contacting Partner Support for assistance.
(Repeat) Important Reminder!
Throughout the tax season, and especially during the beginning weeks of the tax season, it is extremely important to maintain your desktop software program(s) at the latest version as you begin preparing tax returns for your clients. Being at the correct software version helps to minimize or eliminate delays in the processing of your client’s tax return.
Be sure to transmit at least daily to check for and apply released state packages and federal and state software updates.
This important reminder applies to:
Individual Federal 1040 and State Programs
Federal Corporate Business Program and State Programs.
Currently, the Individual Federal 1040 Program is at version 2023.10 and the Federal Corporate Business Program is at version 2023.01. Individual and Business State Program versions will vary.
In this short 4 minute video, we will show you how easy it is to verify the program version and retrieve and apply software updates for both the Federal and State tax programs, including steps for installing software updates on non-transmitting computers.
